Visitation Information

Walter F. Ehrke, age 83, of Silver Lake passed away on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 at The Hutchinson Area Health Care.

He was born on November 19, 1926 in Lester Prairie the son of Fred & Ida Fruetel Ehrke.

Walter was baptized at The Evangelical & Reformed Church of Lester Prairie and Confirmed in the Christian faith on March 17, 1940 by Pastor L. Seybold.

On October 25, 1947, Walter F. Ehrke and Dallas L. Quast were joined in holy marriage at the parsonage of The Evangelical & Reformed Church of Lester Prairie by Pastor W. Fischer. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.

Walter was formerly employed in tiling with Radtke Excavating. He also engaged in dairy farming beginning in 1949 near Lester Prairie. Walter & Dallas moved to Silver Lake in 2004. He became a resident of Cedar Crest due to poor health in February of this year.

He enjoyed telling jokes, polka dancing and listening to old tyme music.

Walter was a faithful, lifelong member of Prairie Communtiy Church, UCC in Lester Prairie.

Survived by loving wife of sixty two years: Dallas L. Ehrke; daughters: Brenda (Russell) Trnka of Silver Lake and Bonnie Kamps of Escondido, California; two granddaughters: Carrie (Al) Wuollett of Moorhead and Jamie (William) Kisner of Kelliher, Minnesota; four great grandchildren: Dalton Kisner, Madelyn Kisner, Samantha Kisner, and Grace Wuollett; two brothers: Earl Ehrke of Glencoe and Clarence (Ramona) Ehrke of Lester Prairie; a sister: Doris (Orville) Gatz of Minnetonka; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Lorraine (Elton) Bandemer of Plato, Jean Quast of Arizona and Betty Quast of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Fred & Ida Ehrke, a sister: Edna Fenske, a sister-in-law: Gladys Ehrke and by a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services for Walter Ehrke were held on Monday, August 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at The Prairie Community Church in Lester Prairie. Pastor Bill Baldwin officiated.

Special music was provided by Jim Wendolek and Marie Eischens.

Interment followed at The Lester Prairie City Cemetery.

A visitation was held on Sunday, August 1st from 4-7:30 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.

Casket Bearers were Russell Trnka, Al Wuollett, William Kisner, Doug Ehrke, Louie Graupmann and Jerome Ehlers.

The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.

    My deepest sympathy in the loss of Walter. I always remember coming out to get eggs, no one could crack a dozen for my dad like Walter could. Val
