North, Vern E. “Vernski”, 82, longtime resident of Northeast Minneapolis died peacefully on
Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Vern was born July 7, 1939 to Sam and Adeline (Christianson) North in Bemidji, MN. He graduated from Vocational School in Minneapolis and went on to work at Flour City Press and Pack where he had many innovations and inventions during his over forty years there. Vern enjoyed going to his favorite spots for meat raffles, arcade bowling league every Tuesday, working with his hands and woodworking. He was the Crafty Craftsman. Vern loved helping others, being a jokester and following MN sports. His favorite pastime was walking his dog Roxy four to five times a day.
Vern will be missed by his children: Cheryl Schrack, Jay (Teri) North, Lynn (Jeff) Bryant, Wendy (Jeff) Grages, and Scott North; grandchildren: Shane, Danielle (Trevor), Jake, Kadie, Josh (Emily), Zach, Eli and Blayke; great-grandchildren: Naomi, Hazel, Bellamy, Harmon, Jayce and Lilah; nieces, nephews, and his many great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; life partner, Bonnie Phelps; brother, Donald North; sisters, Lillian Hayden and Marion Carlson; and his beloved dog, Roxy.
A celebration of Vern’s life will be held this summer. Information will be posted on social media.
I am so very sorry to learn of Vern’s passing. He was a good friend many years ago. I hung around with Vern and Marion in the ’50’s when they lived in North Mpls. Then Vern married Cookie and we enjoyed many good times with them and the kids.

I remember Vern from when I was a child. He was one of my dads best friends at Flour City and I have many happy memories from 40+ years ago. Rest in peace Vern and thank you for the memories.

I am so sad to hear Vern had passed. He was the first person I met at the Vegas when I had moved back down to NE. I picked the right stool to sit on. Many fun times. He left many people with wonderful memories
