Valerie Ketcher Baum, age 57, of Winsted and formerly of Watertown passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Presbyterian Homes of Lake Minnetonka.

She was born on May 26, 1952 in Watertown the daughter of Bill & Amy Koehler Ketcher.

Valerie was baptized on June 15, 1952.

She was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township on April 3, 1966.

She graduated from Watertown High School in 1970.

Valerie was employed for the past thirty years at Presbyterian Homes of Lake Minnetonka as a nursing assistant.

On July 15, 1995, Valerie was joined in holy marriage to Gary L. Baum in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

She loved to shop, camp, fish and go on outings with her friends.

Survived by her husband: Gary L. Baum of Winsted; two step children: Thomas (Kristina) Baum and Stacey (Matt) Henthorne all of Sparta, Wisconsin; two granddaughters: Makayla & Taylor; two grandsons: Dylan & Tyler; her mother: Amy (Vernon) Berglund of Spooner, Wisconsin; brothers: Jerry Ketcher and Dale (Shelly) Ketcher all of Watertown and Steve (Pam) Ketcher of Downing, Wisconsin; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her father Bill Ketcher.

A Memorial Service for Valerie Baum will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 3:00 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Pastor William Kirmsse will officiate.

    I will miss my friend! We had many good times together shopping, going out to lunch (she was never happy with the food)a few trips and just talking. She Loved her family so very much and touched the hearts of so many people. I will miss her terribly!
