Tessa Evangeline Chasing Hawk, age 14, of Sioux Falls journeyed to the Spirit world on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was born on October 7, 1997 in Bismarck, ND the daughter of Delbert Chasing Hawk, Jr. and Angela Flying Horse.
Tessa lived with her parents until she was 7 years old when she was accepted at the Crippled Children’s Hospital and School in Sioux Falls, SD.
Survived by her parents, sisters: Tiana Flying Horse, Navea Chasing Hawk, brothers Jovon Chasing Hawk and Navon Chasing Hawk, grandparents Joe Flying Horse and Frances Laframbois, both of Wakpala, SD, Delbert Chasing Hawk, Sr of Fort Yates, ND, Charlotte White Mountain of McLaughlin, SD, many grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents John and Rena LaFramboise, paternal great-grandparent Josephine White Mountain, paternal great-great-grandparents Leo and Elizabeth Chasing Hawk, maternal great-great-grandparents George and Charlotte (Speaks Walking) Flying Horse and other relatives.
Funeral services for Tessa Chasing Hawk will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Wakpala, SD. Fr. Rob Schwartz and Pastor King will officiate.
Gladys Hawk will be the organist and Lakeside will be the Drum Group.
All night wake service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Wakpala Community Center beginning at 6:00 P.M. Prayers and service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be the students and staff at Crippled Children’s Hospital and School.
Casket Bearers will be Thayne Ridley, Cassie Laframboise, Tim Flying Horse, Michael Wald, Jr, John Foster III, Jason Chasing Hawk, Kyle White Owl, Randy Laframboise and Mark Black Cloud.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, Minnesota is serving the family.
