Stephen “Scott”, age 50, of Burnsville, MN passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

He was born on June 12, 1971 in Waconia, MN the son of Stephen J. Herda and Kathleen (Bode).

Scott loved spending time with his children and family.  He truly loved coaching and watching his daughters Kayla and Emily playing softball.  He also loved watching the MN Vikings with his son Luke.  He also enjoyed watching Luke play hockey and going to his games to cheer him on.  Scott loved sports!  He enjoyed fast pitch softball, coaching youth sports, watching the MN Twins, MN Vikings and the MN Wild.

He is survived by his children Kayla, Emily and Luke Herda; mother to his children Julie Herda; siblings Jeff (Heidi) Herda, Mike (Special Friend Kristina) Herda, Thomas (Erin) Herda, Dan Herda and Maria (Justen) Strader; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Stephen Herda and Kathleen (Bode); grandparents Joseph and Ann Herda and Harold and Bernice Bode.

Mass of Chrisitan burial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, MN.  Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 29th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waverly from 4-8 PM.  Further visitation will be held Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 AM.

Casket bearers will be Jeff Herda, Mike Herda, Tom Herda, Dan Herda, Andy Mattson and Justen Strader.

    In addition to being a great coach, Scott was also a great hockey referee. It was always a pleasure to see his name pop up on my schedule to work another hockey game with him. He will be missed.

    Sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. Had the pleasure of playing against him and with him on the softball field. Respectful opponent and an excellent teammate. Most importantly, a very nice person. Ran into him this past summer when he was umpiring in a youth softball tournament. He interacted with my players, joked around with them and was a good influence on them that day.
