Sherry Lee (Weber) Latzig, age 64, of Winsted, MN passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015.

She was born on August 2, 1950 in Hutchinson, MN the daughter of August and Margaret (Chapman) Weber.

She graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1968 and Hutchinson Technical College in 1969.

She was joined in holy marriage to DuWayne E. Latzig on August 12, 1972 at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, MN.

Sherry was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church. She also belonged to LWML, where she held several offices and enjoyed helping with the fall dinner. She participated in the Relay for Life since 2011 in Norwood/Young America and was the top fundraiser for her team over the last few years. Sherry enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandson; taking them to the movies, watching them play ball and spending time with her friends. She was interested in family history and enjoyed doing embroidery, gardening, sewing and baking.

She was last employed as a culinary aide and cook at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Winsted (and was still working there three weeks before her passing!). In the past she was employed at Starkey’s in Glencoe, Red Owl/SuperValu in the meat department and cashier in Winsted, EDCO sewing factory in Winsted, Carlson/Gage mailing company in Howard Lake, she was also a Tupperware “lady”, and did many other small jobs.

Sherry is survived by her husband DuWayne E. Latzig, daughter Kathy Lee (Joshua) Stillwell of Winsted; grandchildren Cody (special friend Maddie), Cole, Carsen & Madisen Stillwell; great-grandson Trace Weller-Stillwell; mother Margaret Weber of Howard Lake; mother-in-law Leona Latzig of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Janice (Willis) Leistiko, Joanne (Gene) Sauter and Joyce (Steve) Kuntz, Kevin Latzig (special friend Sue) and David Latzig; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister Mary, by an infant stillborn, father-in-law Elmer Latzig, maternal grandparents Lee and Grace Chapman and by paternal grandparents Henry and Marie Weber.

Funeral services for Sherry Latzig will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, MN.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 at Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, MN from 4-8 PM. Further visitation will be held Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.

Honorary casket bearers will be Cody Stillwell, Cole Stillwell, Carsen Stillwell, Madisen Stillwell, Trace Weller-Stillwell and Cousin Steven Weber.

Casket bearers will be Steve Kuntz, Ken Fitchwell, Curtis Ziermann, Donald Weber, Loren Kohls and Mark Weber.

Interment will be St. James Lutheran Cemetery on Dutch Lake.

Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, MN assisted the family with arrangements.

    No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Sherry. She was such a sweet, kind and beautiful woman. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to meet her and get to know her through the Relay for Life events.

    Please accept my condolences on the loss of Sherry. I got to know her when I worked for Lundeen Floor Covering of Cokato. What a sweetheart. Sorry that she left us so young.

    I just now heard about Sherry’s passing, it was just about time for one of our phone calls to each other to check on each of our parents. She was a wonderful caregiver to her mother Margaret and her children and grandchildren and husband. She worked very hard. So sad, it breaks my heart.
