Sheridan Rose Blue Dog (Wakiyena Skawin) “White Dove”, age 29, of Sisseton, SD journeyed to the Spirit World on April 2, 2019.
She was born on October 29, 1989 in Watertown, SD the daughter of Ronald Fayant and Marlys Blue Dog.
Sheridan was very caring and a compassionate person. Her children were her world. She worked very hard to support her two children. She made sure they didn’t want for anything. She enjoyed the Sunday dinners and all the family get togethers. She liked Country music and playing softball. She loved joking with family and friends. She loved all her nieces and nephews very much. Sheridan had a big heart and was always willing to help. She will be missed by all who knew her!
Survived by son Julius Blue Dog; daughter Connie Rodlund; mother Marlys Blue Dog; brothers Corwin (Terra) Blue Dog-Webster, Rafeal Blue Dog all of Sisseton, SD, Randall and DJ Blue Dog of Peever, SD, Curtis (Shanda) Bissonette of Sisseton, SD and Mike Thennis of Watertown, SD; sisters Lena (Rayce) Blue Dog of Sisseton, SD, Trelonnie Dog Eagle of Peever, SD and Joleen Bissonette of Buffalo Lake, SD; grandmother Caroline BlackThunder; many nieces, nephews, aunties and uncles; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by maternal grandparents Ernest Blue Dog and Lena Hayes; paternal grandparents Wilfred and Roberta Fayant; brother Ron Thennis; and father Ron Fayant.
Funeral service for Sheridan Blue Dog will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 1 PM at the Enemy Swim Community Center. Spiritual Advisors will be Tom Decoteau Jr. and Eric Jens. Traditional prayers will be led by the Episcopal Lay Readers. Mato Ho Tanka will be the Drum Group. Interment will be at the SWO Traditional Burial Grounds.
All night wakes will be held at the Enemy Swim Community Center on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 beginning at 7 PM each night.
Honorary casket bearers will be Barb Jens, Cheryl Owen, Terra Blue Dog, Karissa Dog Eagle, Aileana Jones, Shanda Bissonette, Joleen Bissonette, Vivian Chasing Hawk, the SWO Women’s and Co-Ed Softball Teams, Wa Canga Inc. staff and the DMC Hotel staff.
Casket bearers are Corwin Blue Dog, Randall Blue Dog, Mike Thennis, Rafeal Blue Dog, DJ Blue Dog, Dean Iyarpeya, Julius Blue Dog, Wakinyan Janise and Curtis Bissonette.
Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, MN is serving the family.
Oh my dear sweet girl. I can not believe you are gone. I am heart broken, I will never get to see you again. I am so sad for your mother, your family, the grandchildren. Most of all, I am sad that I will not be able to speak to you again. My heart hurts my girl, for all of us, including you sweet Sheridan Rose Blue Dog. You are and have been like a daughter to me from the first time we met many years ago. You will always be loved and thought of by me. I miss you and I do have sweet memories of the time you spent with our family. I have memories to cherish dear Sheridan, but I would rather have you here today with us. God let your light shine upon our dear Sheridan and welcome her into your heavenly Kingdom Jesus, I pray. Amen. Love, Momma Josie and family
