Visitation Information
Robert William Green, age 69, of Lester Prairie passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010, after a 7 year battle with cancer.
He was born on February 20, 1941 in Morris Minnesota, the oldest son of Leonard and Agnes (Hochsprung) Green. Bob attended school in Kensington, MN. In 1959 Bob enlisted in the United States Army. He spent the last 2 years of his tour at Camp Kiser in South Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1963. Bob was always very proud of his service to America.
On February 19, 1966, he married the love of his life, Pamela Hiland, in Kensington at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church. God blessed their marriage with three loving daughters.
Bob worked many years with his dad at Farmers Elevator in Kensington, MN. In 1970, the family moved to Portland, Oregon and he worked for K-Lines and was a supervisor on road jobs. In 1973 the family moved back to Minnesota and Bob taught truck driving at Alexandria Technical School. The following year Bob bought the Millerville Mill, where he ground feed and farmed until 1983. He then started trucking and in 1990 he went to work for SJ&F in Winsted until 1998. Bob’s pride and joy was started in 1999 and the name fit the owner. RiteWay Manufacturing. The business grew to include another business in Sebeka, called RiteWay Machining. Bob believed in hard work and it showed in everything he did.
Bob loved spending time with family and friends and will be remember for his great food! Bob was a great entrepreneur, teacher, and mentor. He enjoyed sharing his expertise with others. Bob also loved sharing his time, talent and treasurers with the Lester Prairie School, St. Pius X Catholic School and Church along with the Arlington VFW Memorial Park. A faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe and a thirty year member of the American Legion Post #527 in Millerville, MN.
Survived by loving wife of 44 years: Pam; daughters: Dawn (Robert) Bitzan of Goodhue, Dana (Lee) Webskowski of Marshall, MN and Denise (Bruce) Johnson of Lester Prairie; eight Grandchildren; Brent & Brooke; Lauren, Kalin, Kirsten; Brenda (Matthew) Judice, Stephanie & Kraig; and great grandson Tyler Judice; four sisters; Joanne Hagstrom of Morris, Carol (A.J.) Keller of Kensington, Gayle (Gary) Ahlbrecht of Apache Junction, AZ and Pat Vickerman of Alexandria; a brother Tom (Judy) Green of Kensington; A sister-in-law Sue Green of Kensington and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; Leonard & Agnes Green, Brother John Green and brother-in-law; Thomas Vickerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Green will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe. Celebrant will be Fr. Anthony Stubeda. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Cemetery in Kensington, MN on Friday, October 29, 2010.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27th from 4-8 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M.
Honorary Casket Bearers are Roger Klimek, Delmer Klimek and grandchildren; Brent, Brooke, Lauren, Kalin, Kirsten, Brenda, Stephanie and Kraig.
Casket Bearers are Patrick Hagstrom, Scott Blehr, Gavin Ahlbrecht, Joshua Vickerman, Joseph Green and Matthew Green.
The Chilson Chapel of Winsted served the family.
We are thinking of you all and praying for your strength during the next days and weeks. God will get you through everything that you will be going through in the next few days and beyond.
