Robert “Bob” Joseph Laxen Sr. age 84, of Winsted passed away Thursday evening, October 18th, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on January 9, 1928 in Victor Township, Wright County the son of Bernard & Helen Quast Laxen. Bob was born and raised on the family homestead.
Bob attended school at Holy Trinity.
He honorably served his Country in The United States Army during World War II.
On June 28, 1958, Robert J. Laxen and Helen R. Lahr were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. God blessed their marriage with six children.
Bob engaged in farming for many years on the family homestead. He also later owned and operated Laxen Bulk Oil Company.
Bob & Helen moved to Winsted in 1995 and a year later sold the Oil Company to Ralph Machemehl in which Robert continued to help Ralph.
Bob was a very gentle, caring, and hard working man. Leading by example, Bob taught his family to work hard and to treat others with kindness and respect. He was always willing to help others in their time of need.
To his grandchildren, Bob was an idol. He was a man full of funny stories, many of which he told while taking the kids for rides in his gas truck and tractor.
Bob was a very caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending his time visiting with company, playing cards, and being outdoors with family.

The Baird family has fond memories of Robert Laxen. You have our sympathies.
Some of my favorite childhoold memories go to thoughts of visiting my Godparents Uncle Robert and Aunt Helen. I was saddened by the news and my heartfelt condolences go out to Aunt Helen and my cousins, Kathy, Francie, Pauline, Rosie, Bobby and Mark.
I’ve read a lot here about Robert Laxen. Reminds me of my father Hubert Laxen, Farmer in Germany. He died on 13 September 2012 at the age of 88.
He was the last surviving of the parallax of the family still farm homestead in Gimbte/Germany where all descendants of Laxen family in Germany and America (Henry Laxen, Winsted, MN) were obtained.
May they rest in peace and find a place in heaven.
