April 28, 1947 – November 26, 2022

Robert (Bob) Joseph Gueningsman, 75, of Winsted, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at The Gardens at Winsted following a fight with Parkinson’s Disease and Parkinson’s-related dementia.

Bob was born April 28, 1947, in Watertown, MN, the first of four children to Joseph and Elizabeth (Libor) Gueningsman. He attended Holy Trinity Schools and Howard Lake High School, graduating in 1965. That fall, he joined the United States Air Force with his cousin, Willard Guennigsmann. Bob served from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam era as an aircraft mechanic.

After his military service, Bob returned to Winsted where he began his family. He was employed for 42 years as an assembler/tester at Eaton Corporation in Eden Prairie, retiring in 2011. He also did evening custodial work at Winsted Elementary School and Holy Trinity Schools and was a fill-in delivery driver and occasional parade driver for Herald Journal.

Affectionately known as Slick or Boogie, Bob enjoyed camping (especially being by the lake sipping his Mountain Dew) and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and other card games, helping at the Winsted Sportsmen’s Club, traveling, horseshoes, bowling, and was a long-time volunteer at Winstock Country Music Festival, a member of the Winsted Lions Club, and a lifetime member of Winsted American Legion Post 407. He was also an adult chaperone for several trips of the Holy Trinity Mission Trip Group and Fine Arts/Band group.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Von Nelle Gueningsman, children Andrew (Tricia) Gueningsman of Winsted, Angela (Ron) Jagodzinski of Winsted, and Ryan (Cassandra) Gueningsman of Saint Bonifacius. He is further survived by granddaughters Madison and Marit Gueningsman and McKenna (fiance Simon Mendoza) and Maggi Jo Jagodzinski. He is additionally survived by sisters Carol (Jack) Harrahill of Crescent City, FL, Jean (Fidd) Fasching of Howard Lake, and Rosie (Dale) Johnson of Glencoe, brother-in-law Arthur Schmidel of Tucson, AZ, as well as nephews and nieces Steven Pfeifer, Christian (Amy) Pfeifer, Guy (Trish) Pariseau, Josette Pariseau, Trevor Fasching, Jason (Laura) Telecky, Beth Johnson, and Daniel Johnson; aunt Mary (Mike) Dongoski of Howard Lake and aunt Therese Fasching of Winsted, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

Visitation for Robert (Bob) Joseph Gueningsman will be Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., with Father Matt Wiering the celebrant, followed by interment with military rites at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted. Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

Bob’s family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the staff of The Gardens at Winsted for their caring support of Bob and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Bob’s name to The Gardens at Winsted, the Winsted Lions, or The Parkinson’s Foundation (or Michael J.
