Ricardo Miguel Rojas, age 60, of Minneapolis journeyed to the Spirit World on November 5, 2021.

He was born on June 30, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN the son of James Rojas I and Diana Buckanaga.

Ricardo attended Red School House.  He was a teacher and mentor.  He loved teaching the youth and any one that was interested.  He traveled to many places, loved doing beadwork and loved sitting by the fire.  He was a traditional dancer and played the wooden flute.  He enjoyed getting visits from his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  He taught the Ojibwe language at the University of Minnesota with Indian Upward Bound.  Ricardo was a two spirited person and a great friend to many close and far away.

Survived by his mother, Diana Buckanaga; brothers Juan R.C. Rojas, James Rojas II and Travis J. Rojas I; sisters Debra A. Rojas, D.A. Rojas, Desiree M. Rojas, Teresa Rojas and Diana Benson; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Isabelle & Andrew Buckanaga; Gavin Rojas, grandma and grandpa Rocha; his father:  James Rojas I and his life partner Tim Madan.

Funeral service for Ricardo Rojas will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Blessed Kateri.  Interment at Hillside Cemetery.

An all-night wake will be held Thursday, November 11th beginning at 7:00 PM at the Church of Blessed Kateri.

Honorary casket bearers will be Diana Buckanaga, Debra Rojas, D. Rojas, Desi Rojas, Teresa Rojas, Diana Benson, Amira Rojas, Charles J. Rojas II, “Rhino” and Sandra Stay-Rojas.

Casket bearers will be Charles J. Rojas I, James Rojas II, Juan R.C. Rojas, Sage Rojas, Travis J. Rojas I and Anthony Graves-Rojas.
