Pete Bender, age 57, of Summit, South Dakota Journeyed to the Spirit World suddenly on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at The Milbank Area Hospital.

He was born on March 4, 1955 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Ramona Verena (Greeley) Bender and Peter R. Bender Sr.

Pete attended grade school in Wilmot, South Dakota and high school in Browns Valley, Minnesota.

He moved to Minneapolis and attended iron workers school in Chicago, Illinois.

Pete served his Country in The United States Army from 1977 until 1979, having been stationed in Germany.

Pete was united in marriage to Maria Belschak in April of 1998.

He enjoyed leather working, woodworking, riding his Harley and visiting in Dakota. Pete made a lasting impression on everyone he met!

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Maria of Summit, South Dakota; two sisters: Edna Bender of Flandreau, South Dakota and Fena (Richard) Redwing of Summit, South Dakota; two brothers: Thomas Bender (Debra) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and James Greeley and an aunt: Doris Donald of Minneapolis, Minnesota; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Pete Bender will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 P.M. at Big Coulee Ascension Presbyterian Church. Reverend Clifford Canku will Officiate.

Interment will follow at Big Coulee Ascension Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Special music will be provided by Billy Kohl.

All night wake will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Big Coulee Guild Hall.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Pete’s friends and family.

Active Casket Bearers will be Gerald Amos, Charlie Christianson, Chris Christianson, Darrick Redwing, Richard Redwing and Fred Small.
