Pauline Mary Merritt, age 78 of Winsted, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted surrounded by friends. She was born May 3, 1940 to Dorothy (Fagan) and Richard Kloster in Lake City, MN. Pauline was raised in Minneapolis with her mother, Dorothy and step-father, William Logan Sr.
Pauline was a faith filled member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and of the St. Anne’s Altar Society. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Winsted, formerly of Clarence LaBelle Post since 1979. She was also a member of the Torrance Rose Float Association from 1989 until the present, and helped assemble floats for the Rose Bowl Parade.
Pauline had a love for animals, along with friends and family. She would talk to anyone who would listen and she loved playing Mexican Train, bingo, cribbage, Skip-Bo and Yahtzee with her family and friends. Her sassy wit would appear when you least expected and everyone would go crazy. She also loved to travel.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Dorothy Logan, Richard Kloster; brothers, Thomas and Kevin Logan; and sister, Patricia Kloster.
She is survived by her brothers, William Jr. and Steven (Debra) Logan; children, Janis (Rick) Pelt of Florida, Greg (Jackie) Hollenbeck of South Dakota, Mike (Robbin) Hollenbeck of Missouri, Holly (Paul) Warner of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Curtiss, Nomi, Andi, Olivia, Jack, Joshua; and many other adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
She will be greatly missed!
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with parish prayers at 4:00 PM and a CCW and St. Anne’s Society rosary recited at 6:45 PM, at Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Inurnment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund.

Pauline is and will always be my dear sweet, funny friend. She will forever be in my heart, and I will miss her so very much! Sending prayers to her family. You’re in my thoughts at this sad time.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and dear friends of Pauline. I worked and became friends with Pauline when I started working at Fabri-Tek back in 1978. I immediately knew she was a one of a kind! I will always remember all the good crazy times we had. Rest in peace my friend, your strife is over and your battle is won!
