Floyd Layton Crawford Jr., age 45, of Sisseton, South Dakota journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, February 6th, 2009. Floyd was born on January 29, 1964 in Flandreau, South Dakota the son of Floyd Layton & Ramona Crawford Sr. Floyd Jr. grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He later moved to Buffalo Lake, rural Eden, South Dakota. Floyd loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Floyd was well liked and respected in the community. He liked to help people who were shut-in. He had a gift of gab and enjoyed visiting with his family, relatives, and friends. Floyd also enjoyed reading in his quiet times. Floyd leaves behind two brothers: Rodney and Anthony (Pam) Crawford; sisters: Florinda Crawford and Sharon (William) Many Wounds; relatives Timothy Little Voice and Lloyd and Carol Crawford, rural Eden, South Dakota, an uncle, a grandfather, several nieces, nephews and cousins. All night wakes were held on Monday, February 9th and Tuesday, February 10th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota. Funeral Services for Floyd Crawford Jr. were held on Wednesday, February 11th at 10:00 A.M. at The Community Center. Reverend Filmore Simon officiated. Special music was provided by Butch Felix. Drum groups were “The Buffalo Lake Singers” and “William Many Wounds Singers.”Honorary Casket Bearers were Leslie King, Elmer Feather, Brian Crawford and all of Floyd’s friends.Casket Bearers Bruce Godfrey Sr., Bruce Godfrey Jr., Rett Sartwell, Niko Sartwell, Henry Williams Jr. and Timothy Little Voice Jr. The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, Minnesota served the family.
