Meredith David Amos, age 69, Journeyed to the Spirit World on February 8, 2012.

He was born on May 28, 1942 in Spring Grove Township, Big Coulee, South Dakota the son of Gabriel Amos Sr. & Naomi Small Amos.

He attended Big Coulee Day School and Sisseton Public School.

Where ever Meredith’s travel took him, that was where he called home.

He had a beautiful singing voice he inherited from his father. Meredith also was very fluent in speaking the Dakota language.

Survived by his daughter: Izola Simon; four grandchildren: Stephen Michael Simon, Ayden Rain Simon, Jayden W.T. Simon and Grace FlyingHorse; brothers: Emmett Amos of Old Agency Village, South Dakota and Harold Amos Sr. of Sisseton, South Dakota; sisters: Beverly Amos of Des Moines, Iowa, Olive Forsing of Punta Gorda, Florida, Lydia “Susie” Rivera of New Effington, South Dakota, Delilah Paul of New Effington, South Dakota, Mary Gansert of Peever, South Dakota, Laura Milton of New Effington, South Dakota, Zella Utley of Belleville, Michigan and Linda Amos of Des Moines, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Gabriel Amos Sr. and Naomi Small Amos, an infant baby sister who died at birth, sisters: Infant Leah June and Gail M. Amos, brothers: Harold Duane, Gabriel Amos Jr. and James Amos Sr., grandparents: Lizzie Alexis Small and Fritz Small and David Amos and Mary Otherday Amos.

Funeral service for Meredith David Amos will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at The Big Coulee District Center in Big Coulee, South Dakota. Reverend Enright
Bighorn will officiate.

Interment Ascension Cemetery in Big Coulee, South Dakota.

An all night wake will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The District Center in Big Coulee.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be All his special homeless friends in Seattle, Washington, Harold Amos, Sr. & Emmett Amos.

Casket Bearers Ivan Amos, Daniel Amos, Stephen Simon, Daniel Maher, Marlin Amos, Gerald Amos and Frederick Small.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted is serving the family.
