Belille, Matthew “Chief”, age 85, Proud member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe of Wisconsin, passed away on November 2, 2019 from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband, father, bother, uncle and great uncle, grandpa and great grandpa.
Matthew was born the son of David and Louise (Corbine) Belille on March 23, 1934 in Reserve, Wisconsin.
He was a calm and loving man who used humor to build lifelong bonds. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and taking trips with family and friends. He let the cares of the world roll-off of himself, and chose to replace them with laughter. Matthew enjoyed the annual uncles/nephews Ice fishing weekend up at LCO, hosted by his son Matt Jr.

Matthew is survived by wife, Bonnie; son, Matthew J. Belille Jr. (Rose), daughters, Gail M. Essen (Al), Laurie Belille, Tina Porter. Siblings; Elizabeth J. LaPoint, Mel E. Belille, Sharon Belille Daugherty, Evelyn Barbash, Margaret Necklace Belille, Clarence Ess Belille and Mary Olsen; Bonnie’s children, Cary Banks (John), Carmen Coats, Chad Olson (Michelle), Camille Blair (Robert), Chris Olson, Cory Olson and Cameron Olson; also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation, Wed., November 6, 5:00-8:00 p.m., with a service at 6:30 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel, 300 Main Street N., St. Michael.
