May 16, 1944 – September 6, 2022

Margaret “Margie” Mary Heimerl, age 78, of Plato, passed away September 6, 2022, at Glencoe Regional Health, Glencoe, MN.

Margaret Mary Schmitt was born May 16, 1944, in Luxemburg; the daughter of Leo and Margaret E. (Doubeck) Schmitt.

On October 4, 1969, she was joined in holy marriage to Dennis Heimerl at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph, MN.  They were blessed with 52 years of marriage.

Margie was a dedicated employee of the 3M Hutchinson Minnesota Plant for 39 years.  She loved to tell stories of the time she spent there and all of her esteemed co-workers.  Many co-workers became life-long friends to Margie.

Margie was a loving, hard- working mother and strongly supported the Catholic Church and community.  She served on the CCW for many years and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  She held many offices in the auxiliary of the American Legion Post 407 and in the auxiliary to Lake Mary VFW Post 9232.  Margie spent many years volunteering her time and talents to help Veterans feel appreciated and supported.  She loved making handmade cards, especially for the Veterans.  She would never forget a birthday or anniversary and would celebrate the event with a homemade card.  Margie loved to sew, knit, cook and bake.  She was well known for her Margie ’Q’s and her awesome bars.  She liked knitting slippers for the Veterans and sewing doll clothes.  She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

She is survived by her loving family: husband Dennis; her children, Rose, Beverly (Russell) Miller, Ryan (Angela), John (Dayna); grandchildren, Roman Heimerl; Tyler (Kelli) Miller, Abigail (Adam) Fischer, and Maggie Miller and Fiancé Andrew Krause; Henry, Simon, and Violet Heimerl; Danielle and Mackenna Smith and Johanna Heimerl; great-grandchild Marcella Miller; siblings, Irene Rennie, Robert (Mary) Schmitt, Dennis (Alice) Schmitt, Emma Dullinger, Carol Rodekuhr; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard Brinker, Doris Fritz, Darrel (Diane) Heimerl, Duayne (Sue) Heimerl, David (Elly) Heimerl, Danny (Becky) Heimerl, Donna Mattson, Diane Heimerl, Darlene Heimerl and many loved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Margaret; siblings, Alvin, Richard (Marie), Henry (Cecilia), Esther (Ben) Kotschevar, Elmer (Arlene), Martha Lodermeier Volkmuth, Mary Brinker; brothers-in-law, Norb Rennie, Tony Dullinger, and Terry Rodekuhr; father and mother-in-law, Roman and Florence Heimerl; son, Allan Heimerl; and granddaughter Sidney Heimerl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret “Margie” Heimerl will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.   Father Matthew Wiering will be the Celebrant.

A Visitation will be at Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM with the Rosary recited at 6:00 PM and parish prayers at 6:30 PM.  Further visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 8:30-9:30 AM. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Casket bearers are Roman Heimerl, Tyler Miller, Abigail Fischer, Maggie Miller, Danielle Smith and Mackenna Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Holy Trinity Capital Campaign (PO Box 9, Winsted, MN 55395).

    Margie was a wonderful person with a love for true patriotism to her country. She was a member of our Lake Mary VFW Aux and was a great asset to our organization, she will be missed by all.
