Mardella Jean Carlson, age 70, of Richfield, MN Journeyed to the Spirit World on March 23, 2014.
Mardella was born on April 24, 1943 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of John Brown and Sarah Jane Oakgrove. She grew up in Redby, MN and later moved to Minneapolis. She went to Albuquerque, NM and finished school with a degree in nursing. She married her husband Arthur Carlson in July 1967 in Redby. Mardella and Arthur had 3 children, Gina, Jeffrey and Sarah, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mardella is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughters: Sarah and Gina; brother, Jim Oakgrove; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grand children; many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Brown and Sarah Oakgrove; son, Jeff Carlson; brothers: Julius, Isadore and Robert Oakgrove; and grandson, Dominic Corbett.
Funeral Service for Mardella Carlson will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Gichitwaa Kateri Church in Minneapolis, MN.
Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
An all night wake will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the Gichitwaa Kateri Church.
Honorary casket bearers will be Barry Oakgrove, James Oakgrove, Nicole Oakgrove and Zulianna Speltz.
Casket bearers will be Marcus Carlson, Johnathon Carlson, Justin Padilla, William Lussier, Michael Reese and Dylan Corbett.
