Marcella Marie Gebhardt entered her eternal home peacefully early Tuesday morning, September 2, 2014 at her residence.
Marcella was born August 14, 1931 in Camden Township to Paul and Margaret (Koehler) Latzig.
Marcella was baptized into faith on September 6, 1931 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, New Germany by Pastor Theodore Rolf. She was instructed by the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed her Christian faith on March 25, 1945 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, New Germany by Pastor John W. Meyer.
Marcella was united in holy matrimony to Orlando Gebhardt on May 7, 1948 at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Parsonage in New Germany by Pastor John W. Meyer. Orlando passed away 10 years ago but she continued to reside on “the farm” they had purchased 60 years ago which she loved and cherished.
Marcella was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church which she loved to help in any way she could at any church function that was held. She loved to garden and share her vegetables with family and friends. She also loved to bake and try new recipes which she would try them on anyone she could.
Marcella was employed at Howard Lake/Waverly Public School as a cook and dishwasher. She was presently volunteering at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted which she would love to visit with the residents and their families. She was known for her laughter and smile and would go out of her way to help anyone which made her feel rewarded.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Debra and Bob Vinkemeier, Bigfork, MN, Son and daughter-in-law Brad and Bonnie Gebhardt, Winsted, MN, grandchildren Delilah and Jay Ownbey, Jon and Erin Narr, Shawn Gebhardt and Andrew Gebhardt and special friend Meagan Peterson, great grandchildren Trevor and Cody Ownbey and Isaiah Narr.
Also, her sister Hildegarde Schwartz of Mayer, Brothers and sister-in-laws Harold and Marie Latzig of Lester Prairie, Martin and Ruth Ann Latzig of Howard Lake, Roland and Carol Latzig of Norwood/Young America, Lowell and Darlene Latzig of New Germany, Leona Latzig of Waconia and Cinderella McQuay of Tucson, AZ, Step-sister Norma Klaustermeier of Minneapolis and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Orlando, Parents: Paul and Margaret Latzig, Step-mother Selma Latzig, Sister Martha Zierman, Step Sister Selma Drew, Brothers Elmer and Roy Latzig, Sister-in-law Ellen Latzig, Gladys Cohrs, Rosella Engelson, Rosa Gebhardt, Rose Ann Gebhardt; Brother-in-laws Leland Schwartz and Hilbert Ziermann, Roy Gebhardt, Leonard Gebhardt, Christopher Gebhardt, Alex Gebhardt, Ewald Cohrs, Maynard Ehrke, Clifford Wolter, and Joe McQuay. Father and Mother In-law Christian and Anna Gebhardt.
Funeral Services for Marcella Gebhardt were held Saturday September 6, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Winsted. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Loder officiated and interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.
Molly Loder served as organist and provided music for the service along with Carrie Knott and Michelle Powell.
Casket Bearers were Delilah Ownbey, Jon Narr, Shawn Gebhardt, Andrew Gebhardt, Jay Ownbey, and Jeff Schwartz. Honorary Casket Bearers were Trevor Ownbey and Cody Ownbey.
Marcella was one of a kind. All of us will miss her. Rest in peace, dear sister. Lowell & Darlene
Marcella loved celebrations. She always had a kind word to say and a hug for both of us. Rest in Peace Aunt Marcella. Not too many parties in heaven-at least not right away. God Bless. Dougie and Joanne
