Mandel Joseph “Joey” Yankton Jr., age 23, of Peever, South Dakota journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, June 25th, 2011 near Wilmot, South Dakota.

He was born on November 30, 1988 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Mandel Yankton Sr. and Patricia Feathers.

Joey grew up in Peever, South Dakota and attended Tiospa Zina Tribal School .

On February 14, 2011 he was joined in marriage to Melissa Keoke.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and children, fishing, working on cars and playing basketball.

Survived by his wife: Melissa Yankton; sons: Mandel Yankton III & Zecharia Zander Yankton; daughters: Javonna Yankton and Jameaka Yankton all of Browns Valley, Minnesota; his mother: Patty Feather and father: Mandel Yankton Sr. both of Peever, South Dakota; brothers: Justin White and Jade White both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Theodore “Teddi” Feather and Cody Toutges both of Peever, South Dakota, Vince Toutges of Madison, Minnesota, Brandon Yankton, Ben Yankton, adopted brother Darin Weidenbach, Josh Keoke and Waylan Keoke all of Peever, South Dakota; sisters: Amanda Quinn of Sisseton, South Dakota, Megan Yankton and Maggie Yankton both of Peever, South Dakota; a host of other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joyce Feather, Joanne Yankton and Clifton Feather Sr. and by an aunt: Sonia Gonsoski.

Funeral services for Mandel Joseph “Joey” Yankton Jr. will be held on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota. Pastor Jerome Renville, Luke Renville and Reverend Enright Bighorn will officiate. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Big Coulee.

Special music will be provided by Joe White.

An all night wake will be held on Tuesday, June 28th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be The Lawrence Boys, The Keoke Boys, Brady & Jordan Cloud, all of Joey’s friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Casket Bearers will be his brothers: Theodore Feather, Cody Toutges, Vince Toutges, Brandon Yankton, Ben Yankton, Darin Weidenbach, Josh Keoke and Waylan Keoke.
