Lyle Albert Zieper, age 78 of Norwood Young America, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.

He was born on July 20, 1938 in Watertown, the son of Albert R. and Naomi D. (Roth) Zieper.

Lyle was a lifelong member of Church of Peace in Norwood where he was also baptized and confirmed in his faith.

He was a 1956 graduate from Central High School in Norwood and enjoyed drama classes.

Lyle began his career working insurance with his father, and later retired from his Income Tax Business after 37 years.

He was a member of the Carver County Historical Society, Glow of Christmas, and was a contributor to the Boys Town Association and Smile Train. He enjoyed making stained glass windows, collecting trains, car rides and driving around town, going out to eat, putting up Christmas lights and hosting Christmas parties. Christmas was his favorite time of the year.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Naomi.

Lyle is survived by his aunt, Joyce Carlbom of Florida; many relatives and dear friends, including: Christa Felt, Kevin Wagner, Connor Smith, Peter Sauter, Thomas Rivers and Mike Kimpling.

Funeral services for Lyle Zieper will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, at The Church of Peace in Norwood Young America. Reverend Bob Haskin will officiate the service. Sherry Quaas will be the organist, and Donna Fuglsang will be the soloist.

Casket bearers are Peter Sauter, Mike Kimpling, Kevin Wagner, Will Sauter, David Fuglsang and Russ Smith.

Honorary casket bearers are Connor Smith, Austin Smith, Lauren Smith and Hunter Smith.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Norwood Young America.

Memorials are preferred to the Church of Peace, 424 North Franklin Street, Norwood Young America, MN 55368.

Serving the family is the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. 320-485-4447.

    I will miss Lyle. He was always smiling and friendly. He truly represented the spirit of Christmas.

    I’m truly sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Zieper. While I do not know your family personally I wanted to share my condolences. Death is something that touches us all and pains our hearts. Seeing that Mr. Zieper was no doubt a bible reader I’m sure it brought him comfort to know that God had the power and desire to resurrect those who have fallen asleep in death (John 5:28, 29). Continue to rely on God during this most trying time as he is near to the broken hearted (Psalms 34:18).
