Luke James Smith (Hill) (also known as Luke LaCroix), age 52, of Moorhead, MN journeyed to the Spirit World on April 3, 2020.
He was born on September 9, 1967 in Sisseton, SD the son of Curtis Hill and Agnes Smith. He was raised in Woodlake, SD and Devils Lake, ND. He later moved to Moorhead, MN.
Luke was a carpenter. He was very involved in Native American Culture and the teachings of their culture. He was a teacher for the Native American Sweat Lodge Ceremonies. He was a family man that enjoyed being at the lake with his family. He loved music.
He was preceded in death by his brother Leonard Sr. and granddaughter Jazlynn.
Survived by his wife Melissa Engesetter; children Christopher Lovin, Samantha Lovin, Lance Lovin, Nathan Smith and David Smith; eight grandchildren; siblings Christina Smith, Leonard (Moose), Harriette LaCroix, Michael LaCroix, Cyprian LaCroix, Sorrel LaCroix and Sierra Haagenstad; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, MN assisted the family with arrangements.
I will truly miss seeing you on my yearly journey home to Sisseton, Nephew. Rest in Paradise and know you are loved and will be missed by many.
