Lorna Doris (Black) Kocourek, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Grand Meadows in Glencoe, Minnesota at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 27 days. (She was formerly of Lester Prairie)

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Pastor Joshua Arndt will officiate. Jane Fasching will be the pianist. Chuck Thiel will be the musician and soloist.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Black, David Black, Marcel Black, Scott Black, Connie Smith and Dean Larson.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Lorna was born a twin on March 26, 1932 at home in Fairfax, Minnesota.

She was baptized April 17, 1932 at Wellington Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax by Reverend E.G. Fritz.

Lorna attended country school close to the family farm.

On April 14, 1946 she was confirmed in the faith at Wellington Evangelical Lutheran Church by Reverend E.G. Fritz. Her confirmation verse was Hebrews 10:22.

On December 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Kocourek at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This union was blessed with four children: Gary (Killed by a drunk driver at 26 months), William, David and Susan.

Lorna was employed at various companies: Brown and Bigelow, Minneapolis Moline, Green Giant, cook at the Lester Prairie School and the US Postal Service. She also volunteered at Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia and Glencoe Hospital.

She was a homemaker, excellent cook, seamstress, and she enjoyed playing cards and Bingo.

Lorna was a member of St. Peter Ladies Aide.
She truly loved her family and especially her five grandchildren!

Lorna is survived by: William (Joan) Kocourek of Lester Prairie, David (Lisa) Kocourek of Lake Bluff, IL and Susan Lukan of Eagan; grandchildren: Ethan and Abby Kocourek, Breanna (Ryan) Engels, Lauren and Noah Lukan; brother: EdVern (Sharon) Black of Texas. Brothers and sisters-in-law: JoAnn Black and Ruth Black both of Fairfax; Pauline Kocourek of San Francisco, CA, Pat Kocourek of Plano, TX, Lois Sutliff of Farmington, Lorrayne Conley of Andover and Betty (Bob) Villesvik of Stillwater; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Kocourek, son Gary, her parents Albert and Mabel Black, step-mother Rose Black, twin brother Loren Black, brothers and sister-in-law Marfield Black, Milton (Donna) Black and Darwin Black, sister and brother-in-law Marella (Howard) Larson, brothers-in-law Roberts’s twin William, James Kocourek, John Kocourek,Grant Sutliff and Ron Conley.
