John Lee Roy, Ozaawaanang – Yellow Star, age 63 of Red Lake, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, South Dakota. He was born on March 13, 1959 in Red Lake, Minnesota the son of Jerome Spears and Sophie Roy. John worked in the freezer meat service department for the John Morrell Company.
He was married to Joyce (Small) Roy. He was a very loving father and brother. John was loved by so many. He loved laughing, joking around, and had a great sense of humor. Just an all-around great person, Big Teddy Bear. He liked going to the casinos and playing Bingo. Being around the people he loved.
John is survived by his wife: Joyce Roy; his daughters: Lorene Bosto and Lorna Roy (their mother, Lori Bosto); brothers: Jerome Roy, Virgil Roy, Darren Roy, and Joe Spears; sisters: Maggie Spears, Elizabeth Roy, and Virginia Roy; special friend: Mary A. Jordan; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; son: Lee David Roy; and many other loving relatives and friends.
An all-night will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the Ponemah Boy’s & Girl’s Club Community Center in Ponemah, Minnesota.
A funeral service for John Roy will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ponemah Boy’s & Girl’s Club Community Center in Ponemah, Minnesota.

Interment will be held at the Ponemah Community Cemetery in Ponemah, Minnesota.
