John Charles Jones, age 58, of Wilder, Idaho journeyed to the Spirit World on February 23, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on August 15, 1950 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Kingsmill M. Jones and Louise Renville.
John was a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate.
He attended Flandreau Public School in Flandreau, South Dakota until entering The United States Marine Corps at the age of 17.
John loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also loved animals, especially beagles, he had five dogs and three cats that he considered family.
In his younger years, he loved to hitch hike. He went from the Atlantic to the Pacific to see people “in the real” as he liked to put it.
He enjoyed listening to Hank Williams Sr. and Country music.
John was fond of building things and was employed as a construction worker for many years. He always remodeled which ever home he was living in.
John enjoyed helping people!
Survived by wife: Debbie; children: Brian Blue Cloud, Raymond Jones and Monica Jones Pederson; four grandchildren: Whitney, Cynthia, Roman and Evalyn; two great grandchildren: Joshua and Hunter; his mother: Louise Renville Jones; a brother: Ronald Glen Jones; sisters: Karen Bianas & Nita Rae Jones; two aunts, two uncles, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his father and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services for John Charles Jones will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 10:00 A.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village. Sacristan John Cloud will officiate and interment follows at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency Village.
Jarrod Lee will sing “Amazing Grace” and “ The Viet Nam Vets will march as a group.
An all night wake will be held at the Community Center on Friday, February 27th beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Francis “Stub” Wakeman, Les Barse, Harvey Renville Sr., Charlie Renville, Sam Allen, Wayne “Pee Wee” Eastman, Dennis Blue, Larry Blue and Rodney Aas.
Casket Bearers will be Jarrod Lee, Kingsmill Johnson, Curtis Redearth, Floyd Kirk Jr., Mark Shindlebower, John Lincoln, Randy Barse and Nate Johnson.
