Jeffery Richard Quast, age 59 of Howard Lake passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 8th, 2018. Jeff fought a valiant battle against glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer.
Jeff was born March 20th, 1959 in Hutchinson, MN to Paul and Bonnie (Ketcher) Quast.
Jeff graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1977.
On September 20th, 1980, Jeff married Carol Roufs at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Jeff had many loves in his life. His family was always his priority, even as his days were numbered he spent his time making sure they were taken care of. Trucking ran in his blood; from his role early on in the family business to running his own trucking company and finally into trucking sales; he took pride in helping his customers.
He also loved the outdoors; hunting with his family and wildlife conservation turning his homestead into a sanctuary for all animals and birds.
Survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carol; faithful dogs Jazamine, Chloe and Dixie; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Lori Quast of Howard Lake; daughter and son-in-law Rachael and Justin Halvorson of Vadnais Heights; Grandchildren Clara Quast and Amelia Halvorson; parents Paul and Bonnie Quast of Winsted; siblings Shelly (Terry) Jorgensen of Buffalo, Mike Quast of Winsted, Melody (John) Hintzen of Chaska, Tammy (Larry) Vealetzek of Winsted, Staci Revering and Jodi Gilyard and 13 nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by devoted dogs Pebbles, Kally and Tasha; grandparents Ralph and Doris Ketcher, mother-in-law and father-in-law Donald and Afra Roufs; brother-in-law Darryl Roufs, Uncle Ralph (Butch) Ketcher, nephews Joshua Quast and Braeden Gilyard.
A celebration of life will take place at 11am on Friday, July 13th, 2018 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winsted, MN. Pastor Dave Hormann will officiate.
Visitation will occur from 4pm – 8pm on Thursday, July 12th, 2018 at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A brief visitation prior to will occur at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church beginning at 10am. Our condolences to all of Jeff’s family. It’s been a long journey for all of you through this horrible illness. Jeff no longer has to be sick and “has his wings” in God’s love.
Sorry to hear about Jeff. You people will really miss him as he was a great guy.
