James Ransom Smith, age 76, of Lester Prairie passed away at his residence on Friday, September 15, 2023.
He was born on July 28, 1947 in Frankfort, Indiana the son of Ralph and Helen (Black) Smith.
James honorably served his Country in The United States Army.
On October 1, 1993, James R. Smith and Phyllis M. (Haekenkamp) Nass were joined in holy marriage in Glencoe.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and was an excellent handyman. He and his wife Phyllis, owned and operated for twenty-seven years J & P Stitches Embroidery.
Jim had a strong Catholic faith!
He was fond of cruises, Disney World, truck pulls, feeding and watching the birds, and family gatherings.
Survived by his loving wife of thirty years: Phyllis M. Smith; children: Amy (Brad) Klima, Jason Nass and significant other Beatriz Vega Vargas, Holly Nass and best friend Bart Van Hoose II; grandchildren: Noah Klima, Nicholas Nass, Connor Nass & Ella Nass; Dalton (Katelin) Kinneman; mother-in-law: Maxine Haekenkamp; Jim’s siblings: Bill Smith (Gelia); Sarah Smith (Lynn), Joe Smith (Penny), Carol Staehler (Jay); Terry Smith (Teresa); In law’s – Ronnie Haekenkamp (Julie); Kevin Haekenkamp (Vicki); Shirley Haekenkamp; Cathy Haekenkamp; Todd Haekenkamp; Glen Haekenkamp (Jodi); Bruce Haekenkamp; Jesse Haekenkamp (Dawn); nieces and nephews; pet dog: “Bailey”.
Preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Jack Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James Smith will be held on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father John Hayes will be the Celebrant.
Interment with military rites Holy Trinity Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd AT THE CHURCH from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass.
Casket Bearers will be brothers-in-law: Ronnie, Kevin, Todd, Glen, Bruce and Jesse Haekenkamp.
