Jalayla Rose Hawk, “Yay Yahs,” was born April 18, 2009, at Mid-Dakota Hospital to Brooke Shields and Dustin Hawk. They felt truly blessed with a “Beautiful Baby Girl.”
Jalayla enjoyed spending most of her time with her Grandpa Randy in the garage. She also enjoyed going to church at Wesleyan Sioux Chapel with Grandma Cheryl. And she would get so excited and happy every time she saw her Daddy come home from work.
Her favorite movie to watch was “The Chipmunks” movie.
Jalayla journeyed to the spirit world on June 20, 2010, at Sanford Children’s Castle at the age of 14 months.
She is survived by her parents, Brooke Shields and Dustin Hawk; sisters, Dustilyn and Delondra; brother, Julian; maternal grandparents Randy and Cheryl Shields; paternal grandfather Sherwood Hawk; great grandpa Whitney Rencountre; special cousin Atraya Shields, who was born 3 days after her; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
Casket Bearers: Dena Drapeau and Jessica Voice.
Honorary Bearers: All her cousins she loved playing with: Dustilyn Hawk, Atraya Shields, Breydon Shields, Anthony Spider, Lacey McLouth, Wesley Shields, Sydney Howe, Delondra HisLaw, Tatiyana Shields, Tresse Traversie, Jaclyn Estes, Delilah Dion, Quentin Estes, Kasiah Dion, Lashawn Thompson, Tayvon Shields, Kingston Rencountre, Walter Estes, and Aharon Harrison.
Funeral Service was held Saturday June 26th, 2010, at 2 P.M. at the Crow Creek Elementary School of Fort Thompson, SD. Traditional wake services were held Thursday and Friday also at the school. Burial was at the Episcopal Cemetery.
