Irene Veronica (Fasching) Otto was born on August 31st, 1923 to Joseph and Appolonia (Stifter) Fasching on the home farm in Winsted Township.

She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and attended Holy Trinity School.

Irene passed away on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Benedict Otto on May 20, 1947 and they lived at the Otto farm until March 1954, the moved to the present farm. Benedict died on July 8th, 1990.
Ten children were born to their marriage: Patricia Marquardt, Judy (Bruce) Hoese, Jane Otto, Marcella (Richard) Schuetze, Alan (Sandy) Otto, Carol Otto, Steven Otto, Elaine (Kent) Adams, Wendy (Justin) Paulson and Helen (Kurt) Brenny; 17 grandchildren: David (Julie) Marquardt, Jenny (Matt) Danielson, Ryan (Melissa) Marquardt, Aaron Hoese, Brenda (Reid) Nimmer, Britt (Joel) Piekarski, Kate (Ryan) Sibernagel, Alaina Otto, Jake Otto, Michaela Otto, Joe Otto, Seth (Jessica) Adams, Brooke Adams, Mara Paulson, Beth (Ben) Mortenson, Travis Brenny & Andrea Brenny; 13 great grandchildren; Irene’s death is mourned by her sisters and brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Irene Fasching, Anne Fasching, John Fasching, Grace and Jim Nolan, Rosemarie and Sylvester Mallak, Linda and Gary Rhuland and Lorraine Otto.

She was preceded in death by her husband Benedict, her parents Joseph and Appolonia Fasching, her late husband’s parents Albert and Mary Otto and her granddaughters Anne Marie and Juliana Otto. She is also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Englebert and Irene Fasching, Fintan Fasching, Clarina and Don McInnes, Marietta and Florian Nowak, Joseph Fasching, Edward Fasching, Bernadine Fasching, Luella and Chester Kaczmarek, Aris Brown and her in-laws Charles and Cecilia Corr, Margaret and Ted Lee, Hildegard and Delbert York, Eleanor and Edmund Richter, George and Kate Otto, John and Betty Otto, Henry and Eileen Otto and William Otto and by a son-in-law Rodney Marquardt.

Irene was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a member of CCW (Council of Catholic Women), Holy Family Society, St. Anne Society, Holy Trinity Bible Study and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed working for their many activities. She was also involved in the Home Extension Group II for Winsted Township, a volunteer at St. Mary’s Care Center and a volunteer at Holy Trinity Schools.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Otto will be held on Friday, June 9th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul Schumacher and Father Mark Mallak will be the Concelebrants. Vocalists will be Sandy Otto and her mother Norma Kuehn.
Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8th from 4-7 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A CCW Rosary will be held at 5:00 P.M. and a Prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Further visitation will be held on Friday morning, June 9th from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

Casket Bearers will David Marquardt, Brenda Nimmer, Britt Peikarski, Alaina Otto, Seth Adams, Mara Paulson and Travis Brenny.

    To all the Otto’s: I was saddened when I heard of Irene’s passing when I was in Rome. I will always remember that when I talked to her before or after Mass she was so kind and thoughtful in our conversations. Will miss seeing her.
