Irene Mary Fasching, age 90, of Winsted passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Mary’s Care Center.

She was born on June 21, 1928 in Silver Lake the daughter of John & Katherine (Jaskowiak) Metkowski.

On May 3, 1949, Irene M. Metkowski and Edward A. Fasching were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with seven children.
Irene and Ed engaged in farming for their whole lifetime.

Irene loved her family! She enjoyed cooking, gardening, cards and polka dancing. She also was a volunteer at Holy Trinity Church and School for many years. Through the years, she was active in Home Extension and 4-H. Irene was a faithful member and servant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Survived by loving children: Cathy (Brian) Wolford of Winsted, Jeff (Mary) Fasching of Hutchinson, Colleen (Paul) Paurus of Cottage Grove, Lois Fasching of Winsted, Susan Sautel of Skokie, Illinois and Kristine (Brent) Sherman of Lino Lakes; a daughter-in-law: Connie McTavish of Fridley; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Edward A. Fasching on May 7, 2017, her parents, a son Paul Fasching, a granddaughter Valerie Paurus Ota, four brothers Clifford, Norbert, Philip and Leo Metkowski and by a sister Virginia Metkowski Matuska.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Fasching will be held on Monday, January 21st, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Mike Doyle will be the Celebrant.
Lavon Kielkucki will be the organist for the Mass and Sandy Otto the soloist.
Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20th from 4-8 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A CCW Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 6:15 P.M.
Further visitation will be held on Monday morning, January 21st one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Casket Bearers will be Michael Wolford, Katie Quaas, Isaac Paurus, Mark Danielson, Andrew Sautel, Joshua Fasching, and Julia Sherman.
