Howard Roy Kitto, age 51, of Flandreau, South Dakota journeyed to the Spirit World Monday, October 15, 2007 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

He was born on August 31, 1956 in Flandreau the son of Samuel H. & Gertrude M. Red Eagle Kitto Sr.

Howard was a member of The Flandreau Santee Oyate.

Howard fought hard with Colon Cancer and lost the battle.

He had a sense of humor and always left a smile on your face.

Howard was very socialable and enjoyed his company of friends and family.

He loved to be out doors. He enjoyed the sound of birds in the early morning. He will be missed by friends and family!

Survived by his loving mother: Gertrude M. Red Eagle; 2 sons: Julian Kitto & Lyno Todd Kitto; brothers & sisters: Alvin W. Johnson (Johnny or John), Thomas E. Johnson (Tom or Tommy), Betty A. Hall, Rose M. Gibbs, Samuel H. Kitto Jr. (Sam-Sam), Linda J. Kitto, Sandra G. Red Eagle (Sandy), Joseph L. Red Eagle, James A. Red Eagle (Jim), Evelyn K. Red Eagle (Eve) Robert K. Red Eagle (Bob), Elden K. Red Eagle and Julie L. Red Eagle; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Samuel H. Kitto Sr. and by a brother Chucky Oakgrove.

Funeral services for Howard Kitto were held on Friday, October 19th at 10:00 A.M. at The Eastman Hall in Flandreau, South Dakota. Reverend Ronald K. McKinney & Reverend Danelle McKinney officiated.

Interment followed at First Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Flandreau.

An all night wake was held on Wednesday, October 17th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Red Lake Community Center in Redby, Minnesota. An all night wake was also held on Thursday, October 18th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Eastman Hall in Flandreau.

Honorary Casket Bearers were all of Howard’s friends and relatives.

Casket Bearers were Tom Johnson, James and Robert Red Eagle, Kevin Gibbs, Billy Joe, Norm, Ricky and Julian Kitto.
