Helen Beatrice (Campbell) Hazel, age 93, of Crystal, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at St. Mary’s Senior Living Center in Winsted, Minnesota as a result of congestive heart failure.
Helen was born on September 17, 1917 in Winsted, Minnesota the daughter of Denis and Ella (Seymour) Campbell.
Helen worked many years as a secretary for the Minneapolis School District. She loved golfing and played on two leagues until she was 90 years-old. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Chic Chix Bridge Club in Winsted many years ago. She volunteered at the St. Therese Care Center in the Gift Shop and was a member of the St. Therese Auxiliary Board. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Robbinsdale.
Helen had no children of her own but she was very close to her nieces and nephews and considered them her children. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Bud” Hazel; parents, Denis and Ella (Seymour) Campbell; sisters and brother: Mixie Roufs, Elderine Fasching, Keene Kubasch, Jerome Campbell and Baby Brother John Edward; half brothers and half sister, Paul Campbell, Denis Campbell and Clara McCarthy, and nephews, Keith Kubasch and Tom Roufs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Minnesota. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday morning at Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 9:30am until the time of service.
