Hazel Christine Parten, age 88, of Winsted passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at St. Mary’s Care Center.

She was born on December 14, 1923 in Tyler, Minnesota the daughter of Hans W. & Karine Johnsen Nicholsen.

On September 22, 1949, Hazel C. Nicholsen and John A. Parten were joined in holy marriage in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.

Hazel was formerly employed for many years as a legal secretary at The Genty Law Office in Winsted.

She was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted. Hazel also belonged to The Winsted Legion Auxiliary.

Survived by a sister-in-law: Helen Parten of Hayward, Wisconsin; nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband: John A. Parten on September 30, 2005, her parents, siblings: Terman, Marie, Julius, Edna and Signa.

Funeral services for Hazel Parten will be held on Friday, August 31st at 10:30 A.M. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted. Pastor Mark Loder will officiate.

Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 5-8 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.

Further visitation will be held on Friday morning, August 31st at the Church one hour prior to services.

Honorary Casket Bearer will be Harold Nicholsen.

Casket Bearers will be Hans Nicholsen, Ralph Nicholsen, Harold Parten, Bob Parten, Jerry Parten and Bryan
DeSchepper.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted is serving the family.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Hazel. Hazel’s sister Marie Schmidt was my Grandmother. I only remember visiting Hazel when I was a young child. God Bless you all and sending love.
