Gordon Charles Kubasch, age 93 of Winsted, MN passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at The Gardens of Winsted, in Winsted, Minnesota.  He was born on December 7, 1929 in rural Watertown, MN the son of Herbert G. and Goldina (Hamann) Kubasch.

Gordon was a faithful, lifetime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, MN. He was baptized on January 5, 1930. Gordon was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on September 17, 1944. He was an active member of the church serving as an usher at the age of 14, a chairman at the age of 21, an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War Conflict 1952 – 1953.  A Veteran of Foreign Wars and a Korean War Vet.

Gordon C. Kubasch and Lenora R. Rolf were married on July 13, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer, MN.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons.

Gordie was a member of the American Legion Post #407 since 1953, Serving as a Commander, past Treasurer for 10 years and Chaplain for 39 Years. He was also a Winsted area Civic and Commerce member serving one term as President, lifetime member of The McLeod County Historical Society and a member of the Winsted Jaycees helping establish Hainlin Park in the 1950’s.

Gordie was associated and a proprietor of Kubasch Excavating for many years. He was the cemetery sexton for the Winsted Public Cemetery in Winsted, MN for 39 years.

Survived by his loving wife: Lenora R. Kubasch; sons: Kendell Milo (Susan) Kubasch of Howard Lake, MN and Aaron John (Patricia) Kubasch of Winsted, MN; four grandchildren: Lindsey (Rob) Rickert, Daniel (Megan) Kubasch, Amanda (Chris) Dahl and Brooke Kubasch; seven great grandchildren; two nieces; four nephews; a brother-in-law; many other loving family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; stillborn daughter: a brother: Milo H. Kubasch; sister: Beverly Sironen; nephew: Keith; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; brother-in-law and a sister-in-law

Funeral services for Gordon C. Kubasch will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, MN. Pastor David Hormann will officiate. Interment will follow with military rites at the Winsted Public Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, MN. Further visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Monday, October 30, 2023 one hour prior to the service.

Casket Bearers are Chris Dahl, Daniel Kubasch, Kevin Kubasch, Kent Kubasch, Kurt Kubasch and Sheilah Maresh

Memorial preferred in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, The American Legion Post # 407, Winsted Wildcats baseball and the Winsted Public Cemetery.
