October 25, 1937 – January 4, 2024

Gerome “Jerry” Barrett of DeGraff, Minnesota

86 years old, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 after suffering from several strokes. Jerry will be sadly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts, whether it was Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, friend, neighbor or honorary Minnesota Grandpa. Jerry is survived by a son: Brian Barrett; daughters: Becky (Tom) Burnham and Cathy (Joe) Dolge; grandchildren: Kristen (Justin) Dolge-Christensen, Andrew Dolge, Jill (Omar) Dolge-Butzer, Sofi Burnham and Grace Burnham; great grandson: Nolan Dolge-Christensen; brother: Pat (Kay) Barrett; in Laws: Elizabeth Dennis, Dorothy ( Richard “Dick”) Shannon and Cliff (Peggy) Koltes; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Janice (Koltes) Barrett,  parents; Earl and Agnes (Rutledge) Barrett, infant twin brother Michael, siblings Mary Agnes (Hugh) Irvin, Francis (Shirley) Barrett, Tom (Laura) Barrett, Jim (Ruth) Barrett, Helen (Jerry) Allen, Jeanne (Tom) Cronin, Kathryn Barrett, in laws: Lois (Cliff) Weisser, Don Dennis, Jerome (Mary) Koltes, Billy Koltes.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to Mass AT THE CHURCH.  Funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, at St. Mary of Waverly on Saturday, January 20, 2024

    I have such good memories of Uncle Jerry. He was such a fun loving person. His can do attitude always impressed me. He will be missed.

    so sorry to hear about uncle Jerry. He always took time to talk to me about our mutul interests. Flying , farming and building. Last time I talked to him, he asked me if I ever use new materials to build with, I said yes and he said “ you ain’t no Barrett!”

    I have fond memories of Uncle Jerry when he lived in California while we were growing up. He was young, funny, and always talked to us kids.
    I remember during Mary and Hugh’s anniversary in Branson Missouri he was doing dive bombs in the swimming pool with the grandkids.
    He had a zest for life. My sympathy to all the family but especially Becky, Cathy, and Brian.
