Gary DuWayne LaBatte Sr., age 72, of Veblen, South Dakota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, May 24th, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on September 23rd, 1940 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Chauncey Hart & Priscilla LaBatte.
Gary was formerly employed as a Welder and Heavy Equipment operator for I.H.S.
He liked to play Lucky 7’s, Gin Rummy, Yahtzee, and enjoyed the out-of-doors, camping, attenting Pow- wows and celebrations. Gary loved to hang out with his grandchildren and listen to Country Western music.
Gary was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Old Agency Village, South Dakota.
Survived by a son: Gary Dean LaBatte Jr.; daughters: Lolita LaBatte, Kayleen Mossier and Kaylene Bird; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; a brother: Robin Blue; sisters: Barbara Blue, Cleo Blue and Georgia Birdwright; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gary LaBatte Sr. will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 2:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota. All of St. Mary’s Lay Readers will officiate.
Special music by Carl Lufkins Sr., The Cook Brother’s Drum Group and Devola Bird.
All Night wakes will be held on Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be James Mulligan Sr., Delano Renville, Norbert Bellinger, Stanley Lufkins, Narcisse Lufkins and (Super) Walter LaBatte Jr.
Casket Bearers will be James Mulligan Jr., Shawn Blue, Chase Buchmann, Westen Hill, Sky Mulligan, Tremayne Blue, Matthew Gill, Cody Gill, Marcus Gill, Dusty Spider, Forrest LaBatte and Jerry Cook.
