Gary Allen Schlagel, age 73, of rural Howard Lake passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

He was born February 10, 1947 the son Donald F. and Myrtle M. (Posusta) Schlagel.  Gary grew up on the family’s homestead in Victor Township, Wright County.  He enjoyed working on the family farm and worked part-time for 40 years at the Howard Lake School.

Gary enjoyed his family and loved animals.

Survived by his siblings: David, Diane, Cindy, Galen and their respective spouses; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews further survive.

Preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister: Beverly Ann Schlagel, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Gary Schlagel will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted at 11:00 A.M.

Inurnment will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.  A Prayer service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Gift Bearers will be Dirkstin Laxen, Ben Poirier, and Isabelle Schaufler.

Honorary Urn Bearers will be Donald Laxen, Candi Laxen, Roger  Kritzeck and Lyle Kritzeck.

Urn Bearer will be Daniel Laxen;
