Ethyl Jane Heldt, age 74, of Plato, MN, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010.
She was born on September 16, 1936 in Baldwin, WI, the daughter of George Nels and Olga Larson Peterson.
Ethyl was baptized on November 22, 1936, at North Rush River Church in rural Baldwin, Wisconsin. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 14, 1950 at North Rush River Church.
On June 25, 1960, Ethyl Peterson & Norman Heldt were joined in holy marriage at North Rush River Church in rural Baldwin. God blessed their marriage with three adopted children.
Following their marriage, Ethyl & Norman moved to Lester Prairie, MN. They moved to rural Plato in 1968. She worked outside the home throughout the years, also staying busy with helping on the farm. Ethyl later worked at Carlson’s Orchard in Winsted for four seasons, where she greatly enjoyed her favorite fall time of the year.
She was a loving, caring person and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ethyl was a great cook! Grandma’s pancakes, pickles and apple pies were the best! She enjoyed crocheting and other creative crafts, winning many ribbons at the fair for her hard work.
Ethyl was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Survived by loving husband of fifty years: Norman H. Heldt; children: Cheryl (Larry) Kooiman of Wauwatosa, WI, David Heldt of Hutchinson, MN, and Wanda (Edmund) Hanson of Silver Lake, MN; grandchildren: Brett Kooiman , Tyler Kooiman, Breanna Heldt, Braelyn Heldt, Brittany Hanson, and Alexis Hanson; twin sister: Esther (Virgil) Krumm of New Richmond, WI; sisters and a brother: Dory (Douglas) Krumm of New Richmond, Betty (Clyde) Wiles of Red Wing, MN, and George (Doris) Peterson of Wilson, WI; sisters-in-law: Marlys (Donald) Friauf of Glencoe, MN, Darlene Weber of Winthrop, MN, Verdella (Marvin) Moehring of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents George Nels and Olga Peterson, and by niece Kay Krumm (Ethyl’s flower girl).
Funeral Services for Ethyl Heldt will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. The Reverend Eric Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Congregational hymns will be “Just As I Am,” “Amazing Grace,” and “A Hymn of Glory Let us Sing.” The organist for the funeral service is Marsha Christianson.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 4th from 4-8 P.M. at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5th one hour prior to services at the church.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be her six grandchildren: Brett Kooiman PFC (unable to attend due to US Army Special Forces Training at Fort Stewart, GA).
Casket Bearers will be Keith Krumm, Randy Peterson, Jeff Wiles and Rick Krumm, Paul Moehring, Gary Friauf and Kevin Weber.
