Visitation Information

Eleanor K. Birkholtz, age 91, of Waverly passed away on Sunday, May 29th, 2011 at her residence.

She was born on April 9, 1920 in Winsted the daughter of Alois “Al” & Louise Hemerick Remer.

On April 17, 1939, Eleanor K. Remer & Otto A. Birkholtz were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with seventeen children.

Mr. & Mrs. Birkholtz engaged in dairy farming for many years in Albion Township, Wright County (R.R. #1 Maple Lake).

Eleanor enjoyed flowers, birds, gardening, quilting and baking. Her family was the light of her life!

She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.

Survived by children: Mary Ann Niesen of Buffalo, Marlys (Jim) Sobaski of Woodbury, Caroline (Scott) Pell of Corcoran, Celestine (Myron) Weege of Winona, Ervin (Sue) Birkholtz of Motley, Rosemary (Jerome) Jenkins of Waverly, James Birkholtz of Motley, Ralph (Sarah) Birkholtz of Pillager, Dale Birkholtz of Motley, Rita (Tim) Ambuhl of Winona, Tom Birkholtz of Montrose, Patty (Ralph) Bakeberg of Brainerd, Paul (Linda) Birkholtz of Glenwood and Joseph (Janet) Birkholtz of Buffalo; forty eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren; sisters and a brother: Gertrude Lyrek of Montrose, Margaret Huhn of Litchfield, Walter Remer of Waverly, Rose Ann (John) Moore of Edina, Aggie (Ray) Yurek of Silver Lake, Eileen (Homer) Berum of Livingston, Montana and Marcy (Leon) Wickenhauser of Cologne; a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband: Otto A. Birkholtz in 2004, a son: Cletus Birkholtz in 1972, daughters: Joanne Krecklau in 2007 and Bernice Wiegand in 2009, her parents, two brothers: Ronald & Raymond Remer and by two sisters: Marie Getz and Isabelle Lindenberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor Birkholtz will be held on Thursday, June 2nd at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier will be the Celebrant. Interment St. Timothy Cemetery in Maple Lake.

A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, June 1st from 4-8 P.M.
Further visitation will be held on Thursday morning, June 2nd at the church one hour prior to Mass.

    I am so sorry for the loss of our aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She sure had a good life with many children to make her life good. I am, again, so sorry for the loss. God be with all of you at this time of grieving.
