DuWayne L. Gruenwaldt, 57, after many years of struggling with several health issues, passed away at his home in rural Silver Lake, MN.
DuWayne LeRoy Gruenwaldt was born May 16, 1953 in Hutchinson, MN. He was the son of Alvin and Irene (Charney) Gruenwaldt. He was baptized as an infant and was confirmed as a youth in his faith. As a young child, the family moved to Glencoe, where he resided for over 30 years. He received his education in Glencoe and was a graduate of Glencoe High School, class of 1971. After high school, DuWayne was employed at Lester’s Inc, Lester Prairie, and then at Millerbernd’s in Winsted, where he was a machinist. DuWayne loved the land and was involved in farming until failing health prevented him from pursuing that activity. DuWayne also enjoyed attending auctions and was extremely interested in ecology, wildlife and genealogy. He was also a great fan of Dr. Phil and Oprah!
DuWayne is survived by his sister, Delores Koepp, of Hutchinson; brother, Daryl Gruenwaldt and his wife Sheila, of Hutchinson; sister LuAnne Mueller and her husband, Gary, of Buffalo, MN. Nephews: David Svoboda, of Hutchinson; Kenneth Mueller and his wife Amy, of Norwood-Young America, MN. Nieces: Tracy Ludington and her husband, Derek, of Zumbrota, MN; Mara Koepp, of Hutchinson; Tara Kent and her husband, Nathan, of Mondovi, Wis.; seven Great-nieces, three Great-nephews, two Great-Great nieces and one Great-Great nephew.
DuWayne was preceded death by his grandparents, parents, a nephew Dennis Svoboda, and his beloved pets, Bucky and Shadow.
A celebration of his life is Friday, November 26, 2010 from 2-4pm at Maresh Funeral Home, 105 Main Street, Silver Lake, MN with a private interment at Koniska Cemetery in rural Glencoe, MN.
