December 19, 1959 – July 4, 2021

Dawn Julie McMahon, age 61, of Winsted passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at The University of Minnesota Hospital.

She was born on December 19, 1959 in Lisbon, North Dakota the daughter of Lee & Gene (Hentgen) Gulsvig.

On June 21, 1986, Dawn J. Gulsvig and Wayne A. McMahon were joined in marriage at St. Paul Park, Minnesota.  God blessed their marriage with three children.

Dawn was a caring and loving mother and grandmother. She doted on her grandchildren and spoiled them like no other. She had a contagious laugh and gave the best hugs. Short visits with Dawn turned into long talks that meant the world to her. She was proudest of her children, and she loved them dearly. Dawn had a very generous heart, and her stubbornness was almost endearing. She treated everyone she met like a friend and was very protective of her family. She cheered her heart out at her grandkids hockey games and became that Hockey “Grandie.” She also loved singing her favorite song, “You are my Sunshine” to her family.

Survived by her loving husband of thirty-five years: Wayne A. McMahon; children: Tara (Robert) Jones, Shannon (Joel) Paschke and Eric (Jeanine) McMahon; five grandchildren: Dylan & Zachary; Sophia; Evelyn & Cecilia; a sister: Cara Fox; a brother: Brian (Shelly) Gulsvig; nieces and nephews: Jessa, Max, Ian and Catie; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Lee & Gene Gulsvig and by brothers Lonny and Terry Gulsvig.

A Celebration of Life for Dawn McMahon will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

I am so sorry to hear of Dawns passing away. I have not seen her for many years as we lost touch but had reconnected recently via Facebook. I have many wonderful memories of all the trouble we used to get up to! I am so sorry for her loss for her family and friends. I will always carry a memory of her with me.
