Darwin David Smith Sr., age 55, of Bena, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on February 26, 1958 in Cass Lake, Minnesota the son of Philip E. Smith and Clara E. Jones.

Darwin was employed as a Laborer.

In his younger days, he enjoyed working out, listening to music, playing cribbage and spending time with family and friends.

Survived by his mother: Clara Smith of Bena, Minnesota; a son: Darwin Smith Jr. of Irrigon, Oregon; daughters: Geneva Chase, Samantha Chase and Eva Smith all of Irrigon, Oregon; three grandchildren; brothers: Michael Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Gary Smith of Bena, Minnesota; sisters: Bonita DesJarlais and Ruth Smith of Bena, Minnesota and Thelma (Larry Keefer) Smith of Cass Lake, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his father: Philip Smith, a brother: Philip Smith Jr. and sisters: Wanda Smith and Peggy Smith.

Funeral services for Darwin Smith Sr. will be held on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at The Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Interment Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake, Minnesota.

All night wakes will be held on Monday, December 16th and Tuesday, December 17th beginning at 5:00 P.M. at The Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Harold Budreau, Roger Budreau, Tony Budreau, Milton Budreau, John “Crow” Smith, Marvin Hanson, Jason Kornezos, Jessie Beaulieu and all his buddies and you know who you are.

Casket Bearers will be Luis Menbez, Walt Brown, Bijah Brown, Philip Delapaz, Ted DeFoe and Isiah Delapaz.
