Visitation Information

“Kelly” Celestine Neumann Hess, age 82, of Howard Lake and formerly of Winsted passed away on Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born on November 4, 1927 in Winsted Township, McLeod County the daughter of Clemens & Clara Hoffman Neumann. She attended Holy Trinity School to the eighth grade.

She met “Pete” Donald Hess (the handsomest man) in 1946 and they took a bus to California and got married February 22, 1947. They lived with Pete’s parents in Cokato and Carol was born in 1947. They moved to an apartment in Howard Lake and Karen was born in 1949, they moved to a farm north of Cokato and Barb was born in 1950, they moved to a farm in Howard Lake and Rob was born in 1952, they moved to a farm by Lake Ann in Howard Lake and Susie in 1954 and Rick in 1956 were born, they moved to the bar/restaurant in Winsted and Patty and Peter were born in 1958 and then they moved north of the church and Kelly was born in 1963. Kelly had many jobs in her lifetime and enjoyed most of them. She also enjoyed playing Yatzee and Cribbage.

Leaving behind to remember her in LOVE, JOY and LAUGHTER are her children: Carol & Bruce Zander, Karen Hertzog, Barb & Sam Zimmermann, Rob & JoAnn Hess, Rick & Ann Marie Hess, Patty & Duane Wegner and Kelly & Marlin Lindland; sisters and brothers: Toby Karels, Paul Neumann, Marcy Olk, Robert Neumann and Dorie Miller; sisters-in-laws: Ollie Montgomery and Audrey Wong; nineteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren: Dan & Lynn Garrett, Jake and Luke Zander, Jeff Zander, Ashley & Alex and Riley Lageson and Erin Zander, Susie & Neil, Greta, Lincoln and Max Schlagel, Charlie Zander. Shannon Hertzog & Donnie, John and Justin Dyba, Jody Hertzog & Brian and Alex Potter, John Hertzog & Becky, Anthony and Serena Hertzog, Krissy Hertzog and Jacey Barlettano, Joel Hertzog. Matt & Vanessa, Jessie and Nikki Zimmerman, Clare & Chris, Erin and Jolie Uecker, Pete & Heather, Alex and Grant Zimmerman. Jenny Hess, Troy Hess and Haley, Jade and Macey, Chad Hess. Grand-dogs: Mable and Ellie. Jason & Kristin and Levi Wegner, Nick & Barb Wegner, Allison Wegner. Cody & Candice and Cale Lindland.

Welcoming her to her new Heavenly Home are husband: Pete, infant daughter: Susie and infant son: Peter.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Celestine “Kelly” Hess was held on Saturday, July 24th, 2010 at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Tony Hesse was the Celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

A visitation was held on Saturday morning, July 24th beginning at 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

Honorary Casket Bearers were John Hertzog, Joel Hertzog, Troy Hess, Chad Hess and Cody Lindland.

Casket Bearers were Dan Zander, Jeff Zander, Charlie Zander, Matt Zimmerman, Pete Zimmerman, Jason Wegner and Nick Wegner.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
