Brenda Joyce MacConnell, age 65, of Omaha, Nebraska journeyed to the Spirit World at home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 29th, 2018.
She was born on December 28, 1952 in Pipestone, Minnesota the daughter of Glenn Goodsell & Lydia Derby.
Brenda graduated from The Sisseton High School and went on to further her education in Rapid City, South Dakota for six months. She then traveled to Seattle, Washington where she resided for a few years with her first child Tory Goodsell.
She then moved back home where she met Durwood MacConnell who she married on May 26, 1978. She had her last child in 1986 which makes a total of seven children that made her and Durwoods very own family.
In 1990, she did numerous volunteer work for Gethsemane Episcopal Church located in Sisseton, South Dakota. She also worked for a short time with Barb Ryan who managed the Sisseton Drop-In-Center. She was the only cook for Barb Ryan for a year or so feeding the needy which she is known to make those who ate there feel as if they were eating at home.
Brenda continued on with her passion of cooking and baking at home and for her church. While she loved to cook and bake, she also helped raise her grandchildren who all have special relationships with her and she had a special place in all their hearts. Brenda was famous for her fry bread that we all loved to eat with practically anything. Especially those Indian tacos!
After the passing of her husband she moved to Omaha, Nebraska with her daughters Carlena and Tory. She still cooked, baked and still found a way to be part of all our lives even from a distance bless her heart!!
She will be missed every day of our lives. Especially her laugh and how she loved to make those famous family meal favorites when she would travel back home to visit her children and grandchildren.
