September 15, 1973 – March 22, 2024

Betty Jean Baumann, age 50, of Plato passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis surrounded the love of family and friends.

She was born on September 15, 1973 in Waconia the daughter of Leon & Marilyn (Asp) Kelzer.

Betty graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1992 and St. Scholastica College in Duluth.

On June 19, 1999, Betty J. Kelzer and Troy W. Baumann were joined in holy marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waconia;  officially joining their shared joy of life, shenanigans, fishing, friends and always laughter! She always referred to Troy as her “favorite person.”

Betty truly enjoyed the challenges of her job as a supervisor at Lifecore Biomedical and the opportunities she experienced.  She enjoyed going to the gym, ice fishing, time with friends, pushing her limits, and finding joy.  Betty had a talent of turning new friends into old friends wherever she went. If you knew her more than 5 minutes, it is likely you have a story of laughing with her until you cried! She was unrelenting, courageous, and bold.

Survived by her loving husband of twenty-five years: Troy W. Baumann; stepson: Tyler; her mother: Marilyn Kelzer (Waconia); siblings: Laurie (Ken) Forner (Carver), Lois (Matt) Loeser (Glen Flora, WI), Alan (Joanne) Kelzer (Plato),  Ardis Stotts (Buffalo) and Marie Elaine (St. Paul), Father in law Richard Baumann (Winsted), Brothers in law Todd (Cathy) Baumann (Cokato), Terry Baumann (Watertown); many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her father Leon Kelzer, brother Ken Kelzer, mother-in-law Mary Ann Baumann and brother-in-law Kevin Stotts.

A Memorial Service for Betty Jean Baumann will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.

Inurnment Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
