Bernadine was employed with the Sacred Child Project since 1998 until her illness forced her into early retirement. During her employment she made many friends through serving family and youth throughout the community.
Bernadine’s favorite pastime was slot machines, cards, bingo, and going to rummage sales. She also loved spending time with family and friends. Bernadine had a loving and caring heart and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She found good in everyone and everything. She loved this time of the year as Christmas was her favorite holiday and she would begin decorating her home in October.
Bernadine is survived by her longtime companion Fred Demery- four Children Verna (Chris) Nadeau, Fred (Rhea) DeCoteau of Belcourt, April (Brian) Demery, of Dunseith Crystal (Justin) Vettleson of Belcourt.; her brothers and sisters: Julie (Gene) Desjarlais of Bismarck, ND, Lance (Connie) DeCoteau of Seattle, Washington, Jarvis (Carla) DeCoteau, Barb (Arlin) DeCoteau all of Dunseith, ND as well as eight grandchildren whom she loved dearly and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bernadine was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two grandchildren, parents, grandparents and two sister-in-laws.
Services for Bernadine DeCoteau will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October, 31st at St. Anthony’s Church in Belcourt, North Dakota with Father Tony officiating.
Final resting place will be St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Wake will begin on Wednesday October 30th at the church at 5:00 PM and a rosary at 8:00 PM.
Pallbearers are John Slater, Trever DeCoteau, Skyler DeCoteau, Cody Nadeau, Jarvis DeCoteau, Jr., Curtis Poitra, and Dalton LaRocque
