Allan Richard Owen, age 70, of Peever, South Dakota journeyed to the Spirit World on Sunday, November 7, 2010.
He was born on August 20, 1940 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Charles & Laura Welch Owen.
He was a member of The Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate and belonged to The Big Coulee District.
Allan graduated from Peever High School. While in high school he played basketball.
When he was a younger man Allan trained Tennessee Walking Horses.
He was employed as a Heavy equipment Operator for Tribal roads for many years.
Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, being around people, was an all around mechanic and worked on many cars through the years.
Survived by six children: Colin (Linette) Owen, Elizabeth Owen (Willis), Juliann Owen all of Peever, Robert (Pam) Owen of Baltic, Richard (Carrie) Owen and Patricia Feather (Jesse) all of Peever; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brothers & a sister: Verlyn “Pete” (Corinne) Owen of St. Cloud, Minnesota Florine (Maynard) Bernard of Sisseton, Gary (Inez) Owen Agency Village and Milton (Barbara) Owen of Sisseton; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his loving companion: Naomi Lufkins, his parents, siblings: Charles & Dennis Owen, Nettie Mousseaux, infant sisters: Gail & Annabelle and by a granddaughter: Shaylee Feather.
Funeral Services for Allan Owen will be held on Wednesday, November 10th at 2:00 P.M. at Ascension Presbyterian Church-Big Coulee, rural Peever, South Dakota. Reverend Enright Bighorn will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Drum Group at the funeral will be “Pidamiya”.
An all night wake will begin on Tuesday, November 9th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Community Center in Old Agency Village, South Dakota. Drum Group at the wake will be “Bear Nation”.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Smokey German, Curtis Bird, Romeo Renville, Curt Snow, Wayne German, DuWayne Gronau, John German, Gerald Heminger Jr., Owen German and all family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Zachary Owen, George Owen, Josh Peterson, Jesse Owen, Jacob Owen, Steve Owen, Bill Owen and Brian Owen.

We are so sorry for your loss. Allan was a joy for us to visit and will be missed. Take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and with Naomi again!
